In less than ten years the internet has become a presence in the Australian home arguably as universal as the television or the telephone.

Each day the number of Australian’s who turn to the internet for news, shopping, entertainment and social interaction increases. At the turn of the millennium just under 34% of Australians had an internet connection in their home. In 2008 that statistic had more than doubled to 74% demonstrating the undeniably significant impact the internet has had on modern life.

Freemasonry, at three hundred years of age, is by comparison an ancient organisation. With its foundations solidly laid in tradition and heritage, Freemasonry has perhaps been slow to embrace a communications technology as mercurial as the internet. But embrace it we have and this, the new website of Freemasons Victoria, is the result.

On this website you will find answers to the many questions often asked about Freemasonry, including what we do, what we believe and who we are.

Included are reports on the charity work carried out by Freemasons Victoria, the community aid programmes we currently oversee and information on how you personally can become involved.

You will also find a brief history of Freemasonry, the biographies of some very familiar Freemasons and a clear and honest explanation of what Freemasonry itself is.

Freemasons believe it is that which we do that defines us and that it is our principles which make all the difference.
